Philip A. Penepent, Jr, MD

A native of Western New York, Dr. Philip Penepent earned his medical degree at the University of Bologna School of Medicine and Surgery, Italy. After training at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, Dr. Penepent began private practice in the Depew/Lancaster community.

For demonstrating the highest degree of humanitarian qualities in the approach and treatment of patients Dr. Penepent received the Philip Goldstein, M.D Memorial Award. Dr. Penepent is a participant in the Primary Connection through Independent Health and has been recognized with the Top Ten in Quality Award for patient satisfaction and quality medical care.

He is a clinical instructor for the University of Buffalo mentoring medical students and is a preceptor for Physician Assistant students from D’Youville and Daemen Colleges.

Dr. Penepent is fluent in Italian and enjoys all things Italian and gardening.

Physician Assistants

Gretchen D. Murphy, PA-C

Gretchen D. Murphy, PA-C joined the medical practice of Philip A. Penepent, Jr., MD in 2012.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her BS/MS in physician assistant studies from D’Youville College in 2007 and received an induction into Pi Alpha – The National Physician Assistant Honor Society. Gretchen is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.

She is a graduate from the Institute for International Medicine and has spent time working oversees in an underserved region in Cameroon, West Africa. She greatly enjoys spending free time with her husband and two children as well as spending time outdoors.

Crystal Hopkins, PA

Crystal Hopkins, PA joined the practice of Dr. Penepent in 2015 as a Magna Cum Laude graduate from D’Youville College with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Physician Assistant. She is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Having previously attended St. Bonaventure University she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Crystal enjoys hiking, cooking, baking, and hanging out with her family and friends. She also enjoys volunteering at her church and in the community.

Licensed Massage Therapist

Anne C. Penepent, Licensed Massage Therapist

Anne C. Penepent, LMT graduated from Trocaire College with a degree in applied science in massage therapy. She scored in the upper fifteenth percent on the licensing exam and after working in spas joined the team at Philip A. Penepent, Jr., MD.

She brings her healing touch and compassionate nature to the practice focusing on neuromuscular therapy and medical massage.

Anne is continuing her education at D’Youville College in Nursing.
